My first publication came in high school when I submitted my poem, "Woven Dreams," to The Telegraph of Cleveland, GA
During my time at Clark College, I graduated with an AA ADT (general transfer degree), was published in The Phoenix for one of my photos, "Oasis, Drought Stricken, Awaiting Rain," in The Swift for one of my short stories, "Into the Dark" (which won the Hawkins/Gallivan award, 3rd place, for fiction/non-fiction), and I wrote a song for concert band, "Sunflower in the Snow," which, when premiered, was rare for Clark.
I performed three poems, "Finding Constellations Through a Mass Spectrometer," "You Too Will Grow Old," and "Ad Astra per Tempesta," at Ghost Town Poetry's open mic in Vancouver, WA. It was the first time reading my poetry in public.
I had the honor of being the Vancouver Chapter of Willamette Writers' Spotlight Author for the April meeting. I also read a flash fiction short story, "A Pitch Off Grant's Pulpit," at the late Professor Julian Nelson's (1965-2024) memorial at Clark College.
